Citrate is the most common reducing agent that is used to make mono-dispersed Gold Nanoparticles. By varying the citrate/gold ratio, the size of the nanospheres can be easily controlled. However, the restriction of using water as a solvent and low yield are the chief limitations of this method.

Note : Nanoparticles of Au are dispersed in water under controlled conditions, sometimes it may settle at the bottom during storage, shake it well before application. For dilution use suitable solvent.
